Skin Treatment Q and A

I’m interested in laser hair removal treatment. How do they work?

Answer: A concentrated beam of light is target hair on large areas. The light is then absorbed by the skin pigment, which ultimately  damages the follicle enough to stop temporarily  future  hair growth. Lasers process can remove hair  from several months to  years, but  differ widely from individual to individual.

Pain Factor: Depending on your pain tolerance, lasers can feel like a gentle pinch.

Price: Up to $1,500 + per session for large skin areas, with 3 hair removal sessions needed to thoroughly remove hair — it could be very expensive.

What Does It Treat?

Answer: Juvederm contains a naturally occurring sugar called hyaluronic acid, which has the remarkably helpful property of binding to water. As the acid attracts water, it “plumps up” the skin, filling and smoothing out any surface wrinkles. In essence, it helps replace the cushion of fatty tissue that we lose as we age and as our skin becomes damaged by the sun’s ultraviolet light.

Pain Factor: Any discomfort is usually minimal, although your physician may numb your skin with a topical anesthetic beforehand.
